  • Web design & development
  • Hosting & care

The Kenmuir Arms is a village inn in New Luce, with a glass-fronted restaurant, a snug bar and three ensuite rooms beside the Water of Luce. It belongs to the village itself, through the New Luce Community Trust. The new website set out to bring the inn's fresh start online, make booking a table or a room easy from a phone, and give the team a site they can keep up to date themselves.

The Kenmuir Arms

The inn first, the village around it

Every page leads with the inn's own photos: the whitewashed front above the lawn, the bar, the restaurant and each of the three rooms. The copy tells the real story, that the village bought the inn and opened its doors again for everyone, and Book a table and Book a room sit at the top of every page.

Dark skies and riverside greens

The palette comes from the place: a deep pine green for buttons and headings, brass for the small details, and a near-black night sky for the footer and dark bands. Headings are set in Cormorant Garamond, an engraved-style serif that suits an old coaching inn, with Jost for everything else.

The Kenmuir Arms

A hero that follows the sunset

Galloway is famous for its dark skies, so the home page knows what time it is in New Luce. It works out the real sunrise and sunset for the village each day, and after dark the daytime photo of the inn gives way to the inn lit up at night.

Menus and rooms you can read on your phone

The All Day Menu is a proper web page rather than a PDF, so it's easy to read on a phone before you set off. The three rooms are shown with their own photos and the facts guests ask about, and the Explore guides cover dark skies, the Southern Upland Way, the Cairnryan ferries, and golf, fishing, walking and cycling nearby.
