Pillow & Key2A boutique home for six apartments in Edinburgh and Glasgow
Pillow & Key is six whole apartments across Edinburgh and Glasgow, each looked after by its own Superhost and booked on Airbnb. The new website set out to give the stays a quietly premium brand of their own, sell each neighbourhood as well as each flat, and let the hosts keep everything up to date themselves.

Pillow & Key
The place first, then the flat
Pillow & Key already had what guests care about most: six well-kept apartments, a Superhost behind each one and ratings of 4.8 or higher on every stay. What it didn't have was a home of its own beyond Airbnb. The real apartment photos lead every page, there's no search box to fight with, and each stay is introduced by its neighbourhood before its floor plan.

A palette from stone and the Firth of Forth
Instead of a tech brand's colours, Pillow & Key takes its cue from the cities themselves: warm sandstone whites, dark ink and a deep, calm Firth green for every button and link. Headings are set in Newsreader, an editorial serif, with Figtree for everything else. The wordmark sets the ampersand in Newsreader italic, and that same ampersand turns up as the section mark and on the 404 page.

The key tag
Each stay's neighbourhood is shown as a small hotel-style key fob: a rounded tag with a punched hole, on every property card and as the label for each neighbourhood. It's a quiet nod to the name, it makes "where" the first thing you read, and it's built entirely in code, with no images to load.

City guides, one neighbourhood at a time
The Edinburgh and Glasgow pages aren't flat grids of listings. Each neighbourhood gets its own short chapter, saying what it's like and what's nearby, followed by the stays in it. Every stay also comes with a list of nearby things to see, places to eat and bars to try, each one checked as open before it went on the site.

Pillow & Key
Made for planning a trip on your phone
Most people find a short stay on their phone, so every page was designed for one first: large photos, one-glance facts (sleeps, bedrooms, bathrooms) in the same order everywhere, and the rating on the same line as the name. Booking stays one calm tap away, with no countdowns and no "3 people are looking".
Pillow & Key
Built to be found, quick to load
The site has 9 pages, each written around its own search term from the keyword research. In Lighthouse's mobile test the home page scores 94 for performance, 100 for accessibility, 100 for best practices and 100 for SEO.

Pillow & Key
A site the hosts run themselves
Stays, photos, hosts, licence numbers and local recommendations all live in a simple admin, so the team can update a listing, swap a photo or add a favourite restaurant without waiting on anyone.
